Lemon Grass Iced Tea

The citrus whiff which emanates from a lemon grass infused drink is amazing, at least for any citrus loving creature like me :D. The subtle citrus flavour makes it both refreshing as well as a cure for several ailments like nasal congestion, common cold, rheumatism and convulsions.

Believed to have originated in Indonesia, lemon grass is now widely found in many of Asia and Australia too. Not only has it found its place in the culinary world but also has a wide use as a medicine.

Lemon Grass Iced Tea

INGREDIENTS
  • 2-3 Stalks of Lemon Grass
  • 2 Tbspn Sugar (adjust as per taste)
  • 3 Cups of Water
  • 1 Tspn Tea Leaves
  • Ice Cubes
 METHOD
  • In a saucepan, add the water, sugar and chopped lemon grass.
  • Bring to a boil. Then simmer for 5-6 minutes.
  • Switch off flame and add the tea leaves. Cover with a lid and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  • Strain. Refrigerate for at least an hour.
  • Pour into a serving glass and add a couple of ice cubes. And, be refreshed !!
Tip:
Adding more than required tea leaves will give a bitter taste.
